"smack talk" per Websters= trash talk, it is out there about myself and lots of others. I don't care what others do.  I know what I do-I deal in facts not B.S.
"smack talkers" immediately tell you about all the shows and  titles.
Trying to get you to spend $3000 +, no mention of health testing .
Where are the references to the health testing they do?
Why don't they provide  health links that deal with facts (not their Opinions )as we do for you to go to so you can learn about the health issues affecting Dobermans?
I have a solid 4 year warranty which is quite extensive. What and where are their warranties?  If any, usually1-2 years( which cover basically nothing)-which are essentially worthless as many serious diseases will not even surface till after 2 years of age,let alone be detected (hip dysplasia, cardio) -     Hmmmmm….. Think they know something they don't want you to know?
I have yet to see ONE of them that has ALL their dogs enrolled in a long term study like we are at the University of North Carolina to check each dog every year for DCM development.  Perhaps, they do not want to know-Ignorance is bliss.
I have testimonials of actual owners of my dogs. "Smack talkers" recommend each other-telling you how wonderful they are. (lol)  My pups are usually all sold before they are born, with some reservations a year away.
I spend my time trying to make potential Doberman owners make an educated decision and be aware of the health issues that affect the Doberman and what conscientious breeders do to try and prevent them-,not wasting my time "smack talking others"  Don't be misled by B.S. educate yourself and make your own decision.

Questions and answers
What food do you feed your dogs and how do I choose a quality food?
I feed Canidae all life stages. Canidae does one thing, they make pet food and do it very well.  Many self proclaimed top dog foods are made by conglomerates that make them as a sideline. There is a lot of information on the web on how to evaluate dog food, here is a good one  dogfood advisor

What is the life span of a doberman?
The average life span of a doberman is 10 years, the average life span of our dogs is 10-12 years.
What is dilated cardio myopathy DCM?
Dilated cardiomyopathy is an acquired disease that is characterized by a markedly enlarged and weakened heart muscle. In the Doberman it affects mainly the left ventricle and left atrium. It results in electrical abnormalities (irregular or abnormal or premature beats). These electrical abnormalities may result in sudden death (described below) as the very first clue of a problem in your dog. Most dogs experience symptoms of pulmonary edema with respiratory distress. DCM is observed in dogs, cats and humans, as well as a number of other species. Dilated cardiomyopathy is always rapidly fatal in Dobermans.
What are the chances My doberman will develop this disease?
The average age a Doberman gets DCM is 7.5 years; that is not someone's opinion, it is a fact.  Currently 50% of All Dobermans will develop cardio.  It is not known what causes it. There is no genetic marker.  Conscientious breeders that really want to make a difference participate in LONG term programs; as we are at the University of Guelph.  All of our dogs, current breeders, retired breeders and even some pups from past and current litters receive a holter annually for the life of the dog.  This is the only way we can help in finding a way to halt this devastating disease.  Follow these links to find out the scientific FACTS about DCM.

What are your goals as a breeder?
To provide you with a Healthy, long lived doberman. Some breeders choose to breed for show;to have the perfect physical specimen and health issues are secondary to physical beauty.  Ask your vet or a veterinary cardiologist
about this. Our dogs our bred to meet the AKC standard with health being the primary issue.
Do you offer a warranty and how long is it?
Yes all of our dogs have a written 4 year health warranty.  Look and see how rare this is.  You will be hard pressed to find one for 2 years many times less.  This should concern you, many diseases will not even show up till 2 years of age. An example is HIP dysplasia you can not even certify the dog till 2 years of age. Cardio is another that will usually not surface till later.

What is covered in your warranty?

The warranty is quite extensive, you may view it here.

What about health testing the doberman?
Like any other breed with a limited genetic gene pool there are certain tests that should be performed see  health testing
What are somethings to consider when buying a Doberman?

Just because the dogs have been shown is no guarantee they are healthy,I have had clients buy a doberman from me because they were heart broken that their champion sired $5000 doberman developed DCM and died at 4 years,or that their doberman was Vwd affected.

Look at their warranty if they even offer one, see what they cover, you will
be surprised what is not covered.  As stated previously a 2 year warranty means nothing as many diseases will not even surface.

Any one who has purchased one of my dobermans and desired another one has come back to me
for a companion to the other dog.

I have testimonials and references of satisfied customers

Are they in contact with past owners?  What is the average age of their dogs?

If you want a doberman bred to the breed standard with health and longevity you will be very happy with one of my dobermans.
How are your puppies raised?
In the home in the office.  I personaly assist with every litter and take a 1-2 week maternity leave to help MOM with her pups. They are not left alone in a barn or a kennel to fend for themselves. The pups receive human intervention from birth.  This makes a big difference in temperament and stability. The puppies are familar with human scents and sounds at birth.
Can I purchase a doberman with out cropped ears?
Yes you can, it is your dog and it is your choice
Will my doberman pup get along with my cats?
If you introduce and acclimate them properly, absolutely.  The puppy is born innocent with out malice.  You want to monitor them with the new animals till they get to know each other.  Puppies are very playful and inquisitive  by nature and may possibly be agitating to older animals, try to avoid a negative experience such as the pup getting scratches to their face.
What is included in the price of the puppy?
The puppy will be health checked by my vet, dewormed, first series of shots,
micro-chipped, tail docked, dew claws removed, have AKC papers, health record, warranty and a small supply of food.
What about ear cropping?
Ear cropping is provided at an additional cost of $400.  With your choice of crop; military, medium or show. Our vet has been doing this 20 years and also can work from a picture if desired.  All of our dogs have the medium crop, most of our clients opt for this.  It is a nice looking crop that will be posted and well on its way to standing when you pick up your pup. They are usually standing on their own with an additional 4-6 weeks of posting. Show crops can take much longer to stand and will require more posting and care 6-12 months is not un common.
At what age do the pups go to their new homes?
For health reasons and to ensure proper socialization new puppies go to their new homes at 8-9 weeks of age.
